High speed train travels in China is the norm now. It's really fast and efficient. Saves travelling time too.

I had taken China's 1st high speed train - the Shanghai test run Maglev more than 10 years ago. At that time the speed was a little over 200kmh and it was WoW! Now HSR is running all over China, at regular frequency too. China is indeed very advanced... err...except for old habits like squat toilets. I am dreaming of travelling by HSR to Tibet one day. I'm ok with high altitudes, but wife isn't. So this dream may never take off. There are so many other wonderful places to travel in China that I like to visit.

The ride was very smooth, with no vibrations at all. The toilet was a surprise to me as I had expected the facilities to be modernised. It wasn't a culture shock as I had visited remote areas near Mount Siguniang where squat toilets are still being used widely. 380 kmh is the top speed for these HSR. The Shanghai Maglev train has a top speed of 431 kmh. However, this line is not profitable. I see on the internet that China has tested Hyperloop trains that travel at 1000 kmh. I will not dare to travel on such trains if they become a commercial reality. The urban and rural sceneries came alternately as we travel past cities on the HSR. These were beautiful sceneries and I too was stirred for my passion to travel more. Thanks Yosh and Iku.

Indeed. Lessons learnt following this episode.

There were 2 toilets facing each other in this carriage. 1 sitting and 1 squat toilets. Both were occupied. When someone exited the left toilet, I quickly entered and it happened to be the squat one. This is one area where China has to quickly catch up with the 1st world countries. We went to Mount Siguniang for climbing and all the local eating places around there have squat toilets. Thankfully, the hotels, including the smaller ones have sitting toilets.

We are lucky to have a great variety of delicious food here. Some working couples eat out everyday as food is readily available. Food prices in Singapore have gone up by a lot in the last 2 years. The prices that you see are the increased prices while salaries have stagnated. Gosh, Canadian food prices is double of ours and we thought our situation is bad.

@@SingaporeCityWalks lol the food court here is boring and expensive 💜😁👍🏼 I had a awful Thai noodle dish one day that cost 💲 18 dollars. It tasted too sweet with burnt veggies. Singapore residents are super lucky 💜🌳

@@LEILAARTSPACE We have 3 main races. So we have lots of Chinese, Malay and Indian food. We also have lots of Western, Thai, Japanese, Korean, Middle Eastern and other foods. We live in a foodie heaven 😊

I was hungry too when I edited this video. The 3 indian stalls at the end of the video were very welcoming. They allowed me to film from inside their stalls. The 3 stalls were not competing, they were helping to look after each other.

Anchorvale Village Mall generously made the whole 2nd floor into this hawker centre. The place is spacious, clean and well ventilated. The variety of food is great. This is a good eating place for residents of the area, me included 😀

New Zealand has the same population size as Singapore (5 million +). But your land area is huge by comparison. We will run out of fuel by the time our combat aircrafts reach your shores. Just kidding. Every male Singaporean have to go through 2 years of full time military training followed by Reservist training. Indeed we have the strongest military infrastructure in South East Asia. We have to be, or be swallowed. Food is the favourite topic for Singaporeans. We have so many food places and food choices. Some places are open 24 hrs. I will charter planes to bring food markets to you. That's a (empty) promise.

I always edit to show the essence of the events to my viewers so that they will gain some insights without spending too much time watching. Occasionally, I will do long walks to show the ambience of the place I visit. Please feel free to give feedback on areas that I can improve on. Thanks Yosh and Iku.

Are you a photography enthusiast or a spectator? If you are an enthusiast, be there before 4pm to chope your spot. Otherwise, you can go there by 7pm to soak up the atmosphere. I suggest 2 spots. 1) Jubilee Bridge where I was. You have MBS in the background. However, the smoke blows towards you so you don't see the full glory of the bursts. 2) MBS promenade side, nearer to the Apple Store, keeping it to your left. Smoke blows away from you so the fireworks will be brilliant. However, the background is not interesting. The sit-down crowd gathers there pretty early. There are 2 short bursts at approx 7.51pm & 8.03pm. Finale is at approx 8.11pm. Timing may change though. Tell me about your experience after 20th July, ok?

These are rehearsals for the National Day on August 9. We can't get to see the parade as these are ticketed (free tickets). However, we get to see the interesting activities that support the parade. The atmosphere gets livelier as we get nearer to the actual day 😀

This is a scaled down fireworks for our 5 sessions of National Education Shows for Primary 5 kids. I will come again on August 9, Singapore's National Day, to hopefully get a good spot to film the grand finale to the celebrations. Nothing beats the real thing to be on location to smell the gunpowder and hear the whooshes and blasts of the fireworks. The Merlion watches silently whilst the crowd watches in excitement. This limited firework display is for our 'National Education Show' for Primary 5 kids. There will be 4 such shows. The full scale fireworks on the actual National Day on August 9 will be awesome as the nation celebrates. I will watch out for your Canada Day fireworks on July 1 (tomorrow).
